Outer Vision
We were approached to develop alterations in the canteen area of a local school. It consisted in reconditioning the existing structures and transforming the canteen into a flexible space which, while continuing to serve as a dining area, could also be used as a small theatre, art gallery or conference atrium. Faced with the wear and tear and disrepair of the building, and the lack of services and furnishings to deal with the needs having arisen over the years in the school, we seized the opportunity to intervene and modify not only the canteen space but also the environs.

Proceeding by contrast, the project evinces the intervention of the existing structure by utilizing the same materials, while altering its logic and spatial configuration. The poured granite reveals itself within the orthogonal system of floor strips, and with curving geometries proposes new ways to utilize the floors. The blackboards exit the classrooms and transform into doors, the boundary vectors outlining the courts start suggesting architectural processes like the door openings and the building ́s structural axes.
